Artist Imagines Depression, Anxiety & Other Mental Illnesses As Monsters, See Pics

Unlike physical cuts and bruises, mental illnesses can’t be seen. Nevertheless, we can recognize the symptoms and seek professional help to battle them. This requires education and awareness as well as frequent public discourse around the subject of mental health.

To this end, UK-based artist Phil Wall of ‘Never Stay Dead’ imagines mental disorders as scary monsters who sometimes override our thoughts and emotions and other times feed off our insecurities, fear, and doubts like parasites.

Bored Panda quoted him saying, “Disorders are something that we live with and are very real, but not everyone can see them or know what we are going through. I wanted to visualize it in a way that everyone could understand easily. As a monster that lives with us on a daily basis.”

Here are the creative and accurate depictions of our inner demons. Take a look.

  1. Mental hell

2. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

3. Negative thoughts

4. Autism

5. Depression

6. Insomnia

7. Bipolar disorder

8. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

9. Body dysmorphia

10. Addiction

11. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

12. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Kudos to Phil for accurately depicting the pain, paralysis, and darkness suffered during mental illness. We hope that this eliminates the stigma around the subject and starts more meaningful discussions in society.
