I remember when I was a kid, almost all the Bollywood heroes were clean shaven. It was there chocolate boy looks that women would go flat over. A stubble was used to denote a time of great tension in the hero’s life. And a full-blown beard meant he had just spent a few years marooned on an island or he was way to serious to take a chill pill.
But with beards being the new IT accessory for men and so much time and effort being devoted into grooming them, you’ll see all these heroes sporting facial hair like nobody’s business!
And I mean, they look way more hotter! I’m not saying clean shaven isn’t sexy at all. It is. But there’s something about that beard. Weird but BEARD <3 !
If you still have any doubts though, here’s empirical proof that might give you a leg up. A study has proven that women find bearded men more attractive than clean shaven ones.
A study published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology asked 8500 women to rate men for their boyfriend potential. These men were photographed at different stages: clean shaven, five days after shaving, ten days after shaving and finally four weeks after shaving.
The results were an absolute cleansweep! Every single woman preferred the men they chose when they had facial hair!
Men with heavy stubbles were the most highly rated as attractive, followed by those with full beards and light stubbles.
The researchers believed that women preferred prominently masculine features like beards because they were indications of higher testosterone levels in men.
Women perceived men’s beards as a sign of theirage and masculine social dominance.
One of the theories suggest Beards may be more attractive to women when considering long-term than short-term relationships as they indicate a male’s ability to successfully compete socially with other males for resources.
Well well well, we’re already in No Shave November, guys! So let’s take full advantage and grow that beard out!
