People Compare Prince Harry & Meghan To Rahul & Anjali From K3G After Their Royal Split

Prince Harry and his lawfully wedded wife and former actress Meghan Markle announced their split from the royal family on Thursday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in an official statement that they have decided to ‘work to become financially independent’ and balance their time between the United Kingdom and North America.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. The news of them stepping back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family has sent shockwaves to the entire world. Several reports even suggested that “no other member of the royal family was consulted” prior to the release of Meghan and Harry’s statement. The royal couple’s wax statues were also reportedly ‘relocated to a separate viewing area’ at Madame Tussauds London after the news of their sudden withdrawal came to light.

Post their announcement, people took to social media to express their opinions of the couple’s split and soon #Megxit started trending on Twitter.

Now, the couple’s decision to leave their royal status and embark on their own journey has reminded people of Rahul and Anjali (played by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol) from the popular Bollywood movie, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. People have been comparing Prince Harry to Rahul (the wealthy boy who left his family for the love of his life) and Meghan Markle as Anjali (the woman who belonged to a different societal status) with funny memes.
