By Reversing Gender Roles, Twitter User Makes A Perfect Point About Sexual Harassment

For a large chunk of our history, men have tried to oppress women by snatching away their voting rights, by not allowing them to work and by abusing them till they lost the will to fight. But women have always stood up, dusted themselves off and revolted against any and every form of oppression. The 21st century edition of that fight is the #MeToo movement.

Through the #MeToo movement, women have spoken about the harassment, sexual or otherwise, they’ve faced throughout their life. And given the magnanimity of the campaign, people are listening and acting upon such allegations. But there’s a vocal minority, comprised of mostly men, who are hell bent to derail this drive of positivity.

So, Julius Ghost decided to put all the misogynistic and sexists questions that men ask whenever a woman speaks up, with a Twitter thread.

The thread was probably in reaction to the Kavanaugh-Ford case, where Brett Kavanaugh was given the position of a Supreme Court judge, despite being accused of sexually harassing Dr. Ford. However, the analogy is applicable to the entire #MeToo movement because it answers the usual questions like, “why are you speaking up after so many years?”, “where is the evidence?”, and so on and so forth.

Julius used the comparison of being sexually harassed to being kicked in the nuts for years, to help men understand why their questions are so irrelevant.

1. Is the picture forming in your head?

2. Normalising the process of kicking.

3. Would you be game to the ‘Smile. You look prettier when you smile’ remarks?

4. Because it’s always the victim’s fault, right? Or at least partially responsible?

5. Would you be able to accept is “part of the system”?

6. But what if the kicker is a “respectable” person?

7. Would be laughing and saying “but it’s just a joke”?

8. Would you call your kicker an “outspoken” person then?

9. Here comes the toughest part.

10. Word of wisdom.

Is it clear now? Or does the analogy have to be even more blunt to get through to you?
