Surat Students To Have ‘Matru-Pitru Pujan Diwas’ On Valentine’s Day So Kids Can Worship Parents

It’s Valentine’s week and whether you love or hate the day, you can’t really ignore it. After all, it’s on this special day when aashiqs proudly flaunt their love for their partners. And, singles share hilarious memes for the entertainment of lonely people like me. In any case, V-day is all about the celebration of love and laughter.

However, schools in Surat will have to organize ‘Matru-Pitru Pujan Diwas’ (Mother- Father Worship Day) on February 14 which coincides with Valentine’s day, reports Business Standard. As per a circular issued by the district education officer, this will help cultivate Indian cultural values among school children.

The circular, which provides the guidelines on how to celebrate the Matru-Pitru Pujan Diwas, has asked schools to invite five to ten married couples for the special occasion. The students are expected to worship their parents with flowers, vermilion, chanting of prayers and offering sweets, reports Hindustan Times.

As per the district education officer, the festivities will inspire students and create awareness about the importance of the day. Schools have also been asked to invite special guests for the occasion. They have been asked to submit a detailed report to the district education office later. Their reports will have to be accompanied by photographs as per the circulars.
