Residents of many Indian cities have been sharing visuals of waterlogging and flooding in their areas after intense rainfall on social media. The pictures and videos have thrown light on the problems in civic infrastructure and drainage systems. Apart from power cuts, the rainwater is also causing traffic snarls and resulting in vehicles being stuck.
On August 18, a bus full of passengers as well as a rickshaw puller got stuck in a flooded underpass near a bus stand in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Cops and the fire department teamed up to save everyone using ropes and rescue equipment.

Outlook India quoted Mathura Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma saying that the heavy rainfall and strong water current made the rescue operation a bit difficult but everyone is now safe.
pic.twitter.com/fEYxBwipuQ

People online lauded the frontline workers for wading into neck-deep waters and helping everyone despite the lack of power supply under the bridge.
God bless @112UttarPradesh for your outstanding work. Now hopefully local municipalities take care of the flood, road, road sign situation so no one else has to go through this again. And can provide police better rescue equipments.
