Stan Lee created worlds, populated them with characters, gave them stories and sent them out into the world for everyone to read. And these literary universes were so relatable that people not only enjoyed them, but also saw a part of their life being played in them. However, after decades of writing comics, appearing in cameos and influencing thousands of people, he is no more.
Last night, THR reported that the legendary writer, editor and publisher of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee had passed away at the age of 95.

For the past few months, Stan’s health wasn’t on the bright side. He was a sight for sore eyes during the numerous comic cons he attended. However, due to his deteriorating health, he wasn’t showing up for most of them. Reports in February stated that he was suffering from Pneumonia, which had again acted up in April. But it was on November 12, 2018 that he drew his last breath at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
It is difficult to put Stan Lee’s influential, complex and colourful legacy into words. The best way to understand what he and his work meant to the world is by going through the tributes paid by his fans and co-workers.
We’ve lost a creative genius. Stan Lee was a pioneering force in the superhero universe. I’m proud to have been a small part of his legacy and …. to have helped bring one of his characters to life. #StanLee #Wolverine pic.twitter.com/iOdefi7iYz

Sad, sad day. Rest In Power, Uncle Stan. You have made the world a better place through the power of modern mythology and your love of this messy business of being human… pic.twitter.com/x6yZ6ClNSX

Stan Lee created a universe where, if a character was beloved enough, they could never really die.
Now THAT’S thinking ahead.
Thanks for so much of my life. You’ll never not be in it.

Stan Lee, in collaboration with artist Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, created iconic characters like Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Black Panther, the X-Men, Iron Man and more. And these characters are still a part of our culture. So, even though Stan is no more with us, he will continue to live on through his work.
