Martyred IAF Pilot’s Wife Shares An Important Message, Says Act Instead Of Chanting Slogans

With the rising tension between India and Pakistan, thousands of people across the two nations have taken on social media to express a lot of thoughts, sometimes unnecessarily spreading hate, and chanting slogans with the wrong spirit.

In the wake of such chaos, the wife of a martyred IAF pilot has a very important message to share.

Air Force Squadron Leader Ninad Mandavgane died in a Mi-17 V5 helicopter crash in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday along with five other IAF personnel and one civilian.

He has left behind his father, wife, and their two-year-old daughter.

His final rites were performed on Friday at Amardham Crematorium in Nashik with full military honour.

The pilot’s body was first brought to Ojhar airport from New Delhi by a special IAF plane on Thursday night where Air Force officials paid tribute to the pilot.

His body was then taken to his hometown Nashik where he was given a 21-gun salute

A huge crowd with people from across the city had come together to bid farewell to the officer and pay their final respects.

When the body was brought to the crematorium around noon, the crowd started chanting  ”Vande Mataram” and ”Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.

According to sources, as slogans started pouring from everywhere, Mandavgane’s wife Vijeta said, “Slogan-shouting and screaming ‘zindabad’ or ‘murdabad’ will not make any difference.”

“If you really want to do something, join the defence forces. Or encourage someone in your family to do so. If that is not possible, small things could help – keep your surroundings clean, don’t litter, don’t urinate in the open, and do not harass women. Stop spreading communal hatred. Small gestures go a long way.”

She added that her husband’s soul would rest in peace knowing that his family is safe.

Vijeta’s message is very important for us to recognise the difference between true and false patriotism. You are just a step away from doing something good for the country.
