We’ve often seen cricketers engage in fierce competition on the field. But sometimes players take their rivalry outside the stadium too. Recently, West Indian batsman Marlon Samuels slammed England all-rounder Ben Stokes on social media.
Taking their existing rivalry to another level, Samuels posted a couple of offensive messages and hurled abuses at the Englishman on Instagram. It all started when, Ben in a recent interview said that quarantining in government-appointed hotels is so bad, he wouldn’t wish it on his ‘worst enemy’ Marlon Samuels.
The West Indies cricketer responded to Ben’s remark with a couple of expletive-laden messages on his Instagram story. He even spoke of Ben’s wife in a derogatory manner while speaking about his skin tone. He wrote,
“No white boy could diss me in the sports and no get back diss look at this b*tch still thinking about me give me 14 days with you wife turn har into Jamaican in 14 seconds mate none of yall knows me that simply means it’s my f***ing superior skin tone.”
Many people online found Samuels’s post to be very distasteful:
