Runner Finds Lost Puppy During Marathon, Carries Him To The Finish Line And Then Home

We can’t resist puppy dog eyes. It just cannot be done. When faced with these ‘paw-dorable’ eyes, we do things that we would never otherwise do. Sometimes we skip work to be with our fur-babies. We even get slippers made that look just like them. And this marathon runner slowed down mid-race to rescue one such little pup!

Khemjira Klongsanun is a 43-year-old runner from Bangkok, Thailand. On 20 January 2019, she participated in the Chombueng 26-mile (~42 km) marathon in Ratchaburi. Around 11 km into the race, she noticed a puppy abandoned on the road. While other runners continued on, she decided to carry the furball to the finish line.

This is absolutely adorable

On being asked why she took a ‘paw-se’ to help out the little guy, she replied,

“It seemed to me that this little guy was lost. There were no houses, no other dogs, or no people around. So, I picked up the puppy, if only to take him out of the unsafe environment.”

Even though carrying him meant that she’d tire out faster and hamper her speed, she did it anyway. She couldn’t bear to leave the shivering creature behind to fend for himself. She successfully completed the marathon with the puppy safely tucked under her arm.

For those who are wondering, he is a Thai bangkaew breed dog. Khemjira tried to find his owners, but no one came forward claiming him. She has now adopted him and he lives in her home with her other 2 pet dogs.
