Video Shows Chinese Man Running 50 Km ‘Marathon’ At Home During Coronavirus Lockdown

The deadly coronavirus has claimed more than 1,100 lives infected over 42,000 people across the globe. The disease which is now officially called COVID-19 originated in Wuhan, China. Which is why many cities around the area have been placed under lockdown with residents asked to remain indoors. Unable to go outside, the residents have found various ways to pass time at home.

According to The Guardian, a 44-year-old massage therapist and amateur marathon runner named Pan Shancu from the city of Hangzhou in China ran 6,250 laps inside his apartment.

Business Insider reports that he shared a video of the same on the Chinese social media website Weibo. He was quoted saying,

“I have not been outside for many days, today I cannot bear sitting down anymore! Let’s run laps around the two massage tables in the room, then! One lap is about 8 meters – I ran 50km, did it in 4:48:44, sweated all over, feels great!”

NDTV further quoted him adding, “I felt a little dizzy at first, but you get used to it after you circle many times. Running is like an addiction. If you don’t run for a long time, you get itchy feet.”

People are lauding his grit and determination but some of them are also expressing concern for the folks that live below him.

This goes to show that if a person is motivated and dedicated, they will find ways to accomplish their goals no matter what the circumstances.
