Sikhs are known for their selfless nature and seva or service towards society. They aren’t hesitant to help others even if it comes with danger to their own lives. On August 5, three kids (2 eight-year-old girls and a 10-year-old boy) who were playing in Kings River, California, got swept away in the water. On noticing this, a 29-year-old Sikh from India named Manjeet Singh jumped and tried to rescue them from drowning.
abc30 quoted Reedley Police Commander Marc Ediger saying, “I think the kids waded out too far and started being carried by the current under the bridge.”
29 year old Manjeet Singh didn’t think twice before jumping into the Kings River Wednesday night when three kids were swept away. But he drowned trying to save their lives. One of the kids- an 8 yr old was underwater for 15 mins and is now on life support. The others made it out. pic.twitter.com/wBnzoPyGjm

CNN quoted him adding, “He didn’t know them, but just saw them needing help so he jumped in.”
Others in the area also rushed to help and managed to save 2 kids who are unharmed. One of the girls was rescued 15 minutes later. She is currently on life support at Valley Children’s Hospital. Mr. Singh was found 40 minutes later but by then it was too late.
