Let me just put this out there – Bollywood doesn’t make memorable songs anymore. There was a time when the music album of films used to be a huge hit and people listened to them on repeat. Think about ‘Rockstar’, ‘Jannat’, ‘Dev: D’, ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Life In A Metro’. These were from the 2000s and 2010s. Before that, Bollywood songs used to be a league on their own.
Nowadays, there’s this trend of remixing every other song that becomes popular on social media. Take for example ‘Rang Saari’ and how it was remixed in the film ‘Jugjugg Jeeyo’. Also, think about ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ in ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘Chura Ke Dil Mera’ in ‘Hungama 2’. Remaking these is just unnecessary and completely ruins the essence of the song.
Remember ‘Manike Mage Hithe’, the popular song sung by Sri Lankan singer and songwriter Yohani? Well, it got remade too for the Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra starrer film ‘Thank God’.
A majority of the song now has Hindi lyrics and even though it is sung by Yohani, Sidharth and Nora Fatehi’s sensual dance ruins the experience. Have a look:
The remix of ‘Manike Mage Hithe’ left several people online unimpressed and here’s what they had to say about it:
