Mangaluru Woman Risks Own Life & Enters 30-Feet Deep Well To Save Dog’s Life

Every day we come across news of animal cruelty happening around the world. For example, recently a pig was forced to bungee jump 223-feet in an amusement park in China as a PR stunt and then taken to a slaughterhouse. This was nothing but an utterly barbaric treatment of a living being which experiences as much pain and fear as humans do. We wonder, will the world never be a safe place for animals?

However, there are some people who are willing to risk their own lives for the sake of protecting animals which gives some hope. Like this 40-year-old woman from Mangaluru who risked her own life and entered a 30-feet deep well to save the life of a dog which was trapped there, reports The New Indian Express.

The dog had fallen into the well and many people tried to rescue it but in vain. Rajani Damodar Shetty, an ardent animal-lover, then stepped up. She climbs down a rope into the bottom of the well where the dog was trapped. She then tied the rope around the dog. People standing above began to pull the rope and the dog was brought to safety. They then passed the rope to Rajani and pulled her up.

Speaking to TOI, Rajani said that she rushed to the spot after receiving a call at 2 PM. She assumed that the dog must have fallen into the well in the morning. Hence, by the time she reached, the dog was scared and nervous.

“With the help of a rope, tied to my waist, I got into the well. The dog had managed to sit in one corner and was scared and initially, even tried to bite me. The moment I pampered it; it became friendly. I was quick to tie a rope around it and the moment it was secure, people from top pulled the dog out first and with the help of ropes, I climbed out of the well,” Rajani said.
