2 Mangalore Schoolgirls Compel Authorities To Fix Roads By Moonwalking On Potholes!

In 2018, almost 3600 people reportedly lost their lives in accidents caused due to potholes across the country. The condition of the roads in the country worsens as soon as monsoon strikes making potholes the leading cause of road accidents. Apart from mishaps, potholes are also an inconvenience to commuters.

Despite the several dangers caused by the potholes, they hardly get fixed on time. So, people have now turned to creative ways of drawing the authorities’ attention to the pitiful conditions of roads.

Accordingly, Baadal Nanjundaswamy, an artist from Bengaluru dressed up as an astronaut and ‘moonwalked’ around the huge potholes in the city. The pictures of the incident spread like a wildfire on social media.

Taking inspiration from Baadal, two schoolgirls from Mangaluru donned the attire of an astronaut and moonwalked across potholes in different parts of the city, recently.

A video of Adlin D’Silva, a class VI student at St Agnes School, moonwalking the potholes near Central Vegetable Market is going viral on social media.

“Through this video, we hope to draw the attention of the city corporation. It has stopped raining, but the corporation has not yet commenced road repair,” Arjun Mascarenhas, co-founder of the civic group, told Times Of India.

Another video of a lower kindergarten student, Nia C Govind, walking on a damaged
road in an astronaut suit is going viral.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Nia’s mother, Deepa Sithesh, said “The video titled ‘Mangalore Roadnaut’ had gone viral on YouTube. Following the video, Mangaluru City Corporation repaired the road immediately. The road was in a pathetic condition for almost a year.”

We hope this unconventional trend turns out to be successful in drawing the authorities’ attention towards the sad condition of the roads across the nation and solicits a lasting solution.
