Rupal Madhup, a professional from Bengaluru, shared an alarming story on LinkedIn which shows how ‘stalker behavior’ has reached new heights.
Rupal alleged that her friend found out that her ex-boyfriend was stalking her through a popular food delivery app. The ex-boyfriend, who works for the platform, allegedly flagged her account after their breakup, giving him access to her real-time delivery locations.
“After the breakup, the guy went full stalker mode. He apparently flagged her account in their system, which meant he had real-time access to her delivery locations. Every. Single. Time. And what did he do? He used it to keep tabs on her! ‘Why are you not ordering at your own place at 2 AM? Where are you?’, ‘What are you doing in Chennai?’, ‘Ordering chocolates, are you on your period?'” she wrote.
At first, she brushed it off as strange curiosity, but when the intrusive questioning became constant, she realized what was going on – he was tracking her movements using her food delivery orders!

Can employees of tech platforms misuse user information? Sadly, in cases like this, the answer seems to be yes. A marketing and communications professional who works at Nykaa and previously worked for Zepto revealed:
When we order food, book cabs, or use any app, we trust these platforms with our personal data. But what happens when the employees of these companies abuse that trust? The fact that someone can exploit their position in a company to gain access to private details like location, and then use it to stalk, is terrifying.
No one should have to worry about being stalked through an app that’s supposed to deliver food, not fear.
