Breakups are hard. And having a cordial and healthy equation with our exes post-breakup is even harder. This may be because of underlying resentment, anger, bitterness or even a touch of sadness and hurt. Which is why most often we hear exes deleting each other’s number and severing all contact.
But sometimes, we come across people who still respect and care about their former partners. These instances are few and far between but are real nonetheless. Here’s one of them.
Twitter user @_xolexc unexpectedly received a text from her ex-boyfriend a day before his wedding. And what he said left her speechless. Take a look.

The heartfelt text teared her up and she replied with an equally beautiful message wishing him lots of happiness for the new chapter in his life.

The tweet has now garnered almost 95,000 retweets and over 400,000 likes. People loved the way the two of them accepted the fact that they were meant to be in each other’s lives for a limited amount of time. They were grateful for that time and what it taught them.
The level of maturity and growth that was evident from their conversation meant that there was no dry eye in the house. Here are some of the emotional reactions of netizens.

Everyone comes into your life for a reason and each relationship you’re in, good/bad, should help teach and mold you to be a “perfect” partner for your future mate. I think this was sweet and I’m sure well deserved. Cheers to being adults and expressing emotions healthily. 💕

Thanks for sharing these great tweets between you & your former boyfriend. People, esp. kids, need to see that exes don’t HAVE to be enemies because romantic love has run its course. Friendship & respect can remain. I wish happiness & success for both of you & your families.

Do you think exes can look beyond the past and have a friendly equation with each other? Or is it better to avoid stirring the pot and keep a healthy distance? Tell us.
