Man Brings A Cat-Double After Airline Refuses His Pet In Cabin For Being Over The Weight Limit

Pet parents go to great lengths for their furry babies. From organizing a maternity photoshoot for them to quitting a full-time job when they get lost, nothing is too extreme. They’re family after all. Mikhail Galin, who hails from Russia, did something similar for his pet cat Viktor.

According to Business Insider, while taking a flight from Latvia to Vladivostok, airline staff informed him that his cat was 2 kg heavier than the cabin weight limit of 8 kg. But he didn’t want to leave Viktor alone and scared in baggage, so he came up with a plan.

The Guardian reports that he rescheduled his flight for the next day so that he could locate Viktor’s less-heavier cat-double. And he did! Phoebe the cat and her owners were roped in to execute the plan.

He took Phoebe for the weigh-in and after receiving the green light from the staff switched her back with Viktor before boarding the flight. Following his plan’s success, he posted about it on social media.

However, the airline was not impressed by his violation and issued this statement,

“Aeroflot has taken the decision to take this passenger out of its frequent flyer programme. All of the miles collected during his time in the programme will be annulled.”

People applauded Mikhail’s decision not to abandon his cat and urged airlines to be more sensitive towards pets.

Have you faced problems while flying with your pets or do you prefer leaving them with sitters or pet boardings while you’re away?
