Given how security systems in every institution have become incredibly robust, the age-old job of smuggling has become very difficult. But that hasn’t stopped these criminals from coming up with new ways to beat the system. They’ve used their rectum, pigeons, drones, a poop-like paste and, get ready for it, peanuts!
During a Quora session, former customs officials trainer Norbert Almeida was asked about the most unique item he has seen come through customs at an airport. He said,
“I’ve been at the airport when carpets soaked in drugs were found. Computers with false screens and suitcases with false bottoms weren’t unusual findings. Recently however something came through the security network that certainly left me appreciating the effort.
A drug smuggler was caught with peanuts stuffed with drugs.”
He even shared pictures of the incident.
According to reports, on March 20th the Anti-Narcotics Force in Islamabad had caught a drug smuggler carrying 900 grams of Hasheesh in peanuts.
The ANF Customs Authorities were conducting a routine check at the airport when they intercepted a man called Riaz. When they opened his bag, they found loads of peanuts with Hasheesh inside the shells. He was arrested on the spot and a case was registered against him.
Now, although the matter was grievous, netizens couldn’t stop laughing at the ridiculousness of the incident.
The whole process of buying peanuts, opening them, taking out the nuts, filling the shells with drugs and sealing them probably requires a lot of patience and precision. Hopefully, they can redirect all that energy to jobs that are firstly legal and secondly productive in nature.
