This Man Built The Most Gorgeous House For A Family Of Mice Living In His Backyard

I’m not very fond of rodents. Unless they are of the animated variety. Over the years, we’ve come to an understanding. I don’t enter their homes and they don’t enter mine. But unlike me, one man has a very special relationship with these furry creatures.

Wildlife photographer Simon Dell lives in Sheffield, United Kingdom. His backyard garden is a haven for birds like sparrows and robins. But one day, he found a little mouse there too. His instincts told him he’d make a great muse for pictures so he decided to build him a house.

Can you believe its made out of logs, old fruit, vegetables, and props?

In a conversation with Bored Panda, he revealed the inspiration behind his idea.

“I decided to build them a home as I wanted to give them a safe place in the garden and not fall prey to cats or other animals. Also, as I was feeding the mice it was the right thing to do as I would feel it was my fault getting them to come out if they became prey. Being a wildlife photographer, I wanted to create a nice looking habitat for any pictures I would take.”

“The first stage of the log pile was very easy and only took an hour or so to make. As more mice came the following days, however, I made changes, adding more rooms. The inside of the box structure has 2-3 ways in and out, so they can escape if need be. Over the weeks and months, the log pile village has been steadily growing.”
