You have not experienced pain if you haven’t lost money which you have been saving for something big. Losing money, irrespective of whether someone has stolen it or you’ve mistakenly misplaced it is a different kind of heartbreak altogether. Imagine throwing a pair of jeans into the washing machine only to realise that it had a Rs. 500 note inside a pocket.
So imagine what horror this man must have gone through after he realised that he mistakenly dumped cash worth Rs. 16 lakh in the trash!
According to sources, a man from Ashland, Oregon, accidentally dumped $23,000 (Rs. 16 lakhs approx) in the garbage bin. The trash was then emptied in a truck which then drove to Recology sorting facility in Humboldt County. Neither the truck driver, the guy who emptied the trash knew about it.
When the man realised his money was gone and that it was taken away by the garbage truck, he immediately called Recology facility. By that time, the garbage had already been sorted.
The cash was stored inside a shoebox. The workers of the facility were alerted who then started searching for the box. Thankfully, someone spotted the box down the sorting line. All the money was recovered, except $320 (Rs. 22.6K approx) and the man was reunited with his life’s savings!
What’s surprising is that the money remained intact in the box for the entire 321kms journey!
