Anu Malik Slammed For Copying Israel’s National Anthem In His Patriotic Song ‘Mera Mulk’

It is not uncommon for artists to seek inspiration from their peers in the industry. Remember when celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani found himself in a soup after the picture he took of Kiara Advani resembled one by photographer Marie Barsch?

Then the creators of ‘Devi’ were slammed for allegedly plagiarizing the basic plot line of the movie. This time, it’s Anu Malik who has been accused of plagiarism.

Just yesterday, Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won the nation’s first Olympic medal in artistic gymnastics. That was when their flag was raised and their national anthem Hatikvah was played. It was then that Indians the world over noticed the uncanny resemblance the anthem had with Anu Malik’s song from a 1996 movie.

The song Mera Mulk Mera Desh from ‘Diljale’ has allegedly copied the melody of Israel’s national anthem, reports TOI. People online had a field day roasting Malik for blatant plagiarism of the music. Take a look at some of the jokes and memes that surfaced online-
