Madhu Kishwar Believes GOT’s Arya Stark Is ‘Blind Kashmiri Girl’, Seeks Help!

Fake news spreads like wildfire on the internet. So one needs to be very careful while reading huge amounts of information on social media. Of course, now we can fact-check. But previously people have witnessed online riots over a fake piece of information!

Especially now when Jammu and Kashmir is undergoing major unrest, it is important for people to fact-check information before posting/retweeting/sharing online.

However, Indian academic Madhu Kishwar failed in doing so and retweeted a picture of a “Kashmiri girl who became blind after she was hit by a pellet gun”. The girl in the picture is actually Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, from season 6 after she turns blind!

According to sources, the picture was posted on Twitter originally by a parody account which already has a big fat disclaimer written on its bio – “All Tweets are for fun 100% fake, imaginary, resemblance to any person dead or alive is purely coincidental”.

Yet, Madhu retweeted the picture and said, “What are Zakat Funds used for if not for poor and vulnerable?”

‘Zakat’ is an Islamic form of tax which is used for charitable purposes.

Netizens were quick enough to intrude and inform her that the news was in fact fake and a parody. Some also warned her of possible trolling that came her way!
