When it comes to wax museums, there’s a very thin line between being Madame Tussauds and being the Paris Hilton starrer horror flick, House of Wax. It’s not everybody’s cup of melting wax, TBH. We’ve seen countless incidents of wax statues gone wrong. For example, the Ranveer Singh wax statue at Grevin Museum in France! Or wait, is that Shiamak Davar? LOL!
And now, looks like we’ve got yet another set of wax statues, or rather, an entire wax museum, to give us the giggles!
Yesterday, pictures of Prabhakar’s Wax Museum in Ludhiana, Punjab, were shared on Twitter. The museum houses wax statues of both Indian and international personalities.
In 2000, after artist Chandra Shekhar Prabhakar visited Madame Tussauds, he aspired to open his own wax museum. Started in 2005, the museum now houses some 52 famous personalities’ statues, with new additions every year.

It can be seen that the wax statues are not even remotely close to their Tussauds’ counterparts. Their somewhat disagreeable appearance has caused a hilarious uproar on Twitter, with almost everyone mocking the disastrous attempt.
Safe to say that if there’s anything more hilarious than the statues, it is Twitter’s reactions to them!

Had a good laugh? Awesome. Now time to hit the stack of reality.
While everyone was mocking the sorry statue of affairs, one journo decided to shed light on the tremendous efforts of the man behind the museum. And chances are, you’re going to want to take back those jokes and applaud him!
Twitter user @swati_gs tweeted a thread about the artist, Mr. Prabhakar, whom se knows personally and it is sure to make you respect the man and his work a lot!
This 'museum' has become a butt of jokes and understandably so, given the quality of most of the wax statues. But since I have personally known the 'artist' during a short stay in Ludhiana, I would like to share something that might make you troll him a bit less 😀 https://t.co/D358lJTQTS

This wax museum is the hard work of a 71-year-old spirited man!
Chandra Shekhar Prabhakar is a 71 yr old man who took up this hobby way back in 2005 after a heart surgery. His motive was to keep himself engaged as he could no longer manage his business and handed over the reins to his children. He is a spirited man and very inspiring

Mr. Prabhakar has shelled every single penny for the museum from his own pocket, and it gives him great satisfaction to see it be a source of recreation for tourists and locals alike.
It's his private museum. He pays everything from his pocket. Of late, he has started charging Rs 100 as entry fee to meet his expenses. In this industrial city with hardly any recreational options, it gets a decent footfall. Above all, it brings him satisfaction 😊
— Swati Goel Sharma (@swati_gs) April 2, 2018
Of course, while celebrities are thrilled to make time for giving their measurements to bigger, more popular museums, Prabhakar’s museum relies solely on photos. Just the fact that he has managed to pull off such a feat is commendable!
He knows ppl mock his work. But he is quite right in saying that his work can't be compared to professionals since he makes statues only using the 2D photographs he has. Anyway, hats off to him, he's doing it all alone with no rewards for 20 yrs now! That's all I wanted to share
— Swati Goel Sharma (@swati_gs) April 2, 2018
A little fun and jokes never hurt anybody, and even Mr. Prabhakar agrees that the likeness of his wax statues to their corresponding celebs or international counterparts is rather poor. But we must give credit where credit is due, right folks? We’ll eventually get there too!
After all, Make in India?
