Single Guy Puts Himself Up For ‘Sale’ On FB After Having No Girlfriend For 10 Years

People normally use presentations and advertising for business purposes, but there are a few who are able to utilize these mediums creatively in their personal lives as well. For instance, a girl made a PPT with solid arguments to convince her parents to get her a cat, or a doctor who posted a creative PPT with his ‘dating qualifications’ and ‘reviews’ from ex.

As per a report in Metro, a lonely 30-year old man named Alan Ian Clayton from UK’s Northamptonshire was looking for an ideal partner as he hadn’t been on a date in 10 years. Not having any luck with traditional dating apps, he went on to advertise himself on a Facebook page called ‘Items For Sale’.

Alan, who works as a lorry driver, explains, “I’ve tried conventional apps like Tinder and Plenty of Fish but nothing has really happened so I went to sign up to e-Harmony. They asked me lots of questions and I suddenly thought why don’t I just advertise myself online on a bargain adverts page.”

On September 10, he finally put up a Facebook post advert listing himself as ‘Free’ with multiple photographs of himself. He captioned it, “Hello there ladies. I’m Alan. I’m 30 years old. I’m looking for a lovely lady to talk to, maybe more, as I got a few weddings to go to and don’t want to go alone. Lol. I tried dating sites not had any luck so thought I give this a go. Lol.” Check it out:

Reportedly, while he did receive many messages from UK women, it has only led to one date so far, which didn’t work out. But he remains hopeful that his unconventional route might lead him somewhere.

His dad named Frank hopes that someone gives Alan a chance. He recalls, “It was a surprise when he put the advert up. He’s had one response but it was a no go.” He continues saying, “He’s a really good lad. He’d help anyone. He’s very, very obliging. Anything we ask him to do he’ll do. ‘We certainly want to see him happy. He can cook, does all his washing and cleaning, takes our dog Mindy for walks. He’s a brilliant uncle, he gets on really well with his sister Millie.”

Ian concludes by saying, “I could only go two ways – people taking the mickey or finding someone. So far the response has been amazing.”

Finding the right person is hard, but it is interesting to see people finding new ways and avenues to date people. What do you think? Tell us!
