There’s nothing more fun than a family movie night at the theatre. And we are in luck that in 2019, a lot of our old favourite classics are returning to the big screen, from Aladdin to The Lion King. And, in case you haven’t been online for the past couple of hours, the trailer for director Greta Gerwig’s movie adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel ‘Little Women’ just dropped!
The story revolves around 4 sisters Jo (Saoirse Ronan), Meg (Emma Watson), Amy (Florence Pugh) and Beth March (Eliza Scanlen) set in Civil War-era U.S. The star cast also boasts big names like Meryl Streep who plays Aunt March and Timothée Chalamet who essays the role of Laurie.
The new adaptation will focus more on the March sisters’ young adult lives after they move out of their family home. Desperate for an identity that’s not limited to being someone’s wife, the four women together are delightful to watch in the trailer of this coming of age film. The most relatable character (which is still relevant in modern times) has to be the headstrong Jo. She is focussed on finding her place in the world more than on finding love.
This captivating moment gave us literal goosebumps!

On its surface, Little Women can seem like a saccharine, moralizing, outdated story whose main appeal is girls falling in love while wearing flouncy dresses. But it’s really a story about women trying to navigate patriarchal power structures when all the men are absent or useless
