Have you had dazzling parties that your friends have talked about for days? I don’t want to belittle your achievements but these, right here, are some of the most spectacular parties and celebrations that’ll make you want to cancel your next party and cry! Well, I am not a party lover so I am still sane and happy with my life. But if you are, be ready to have a few heart attacks and major party goals!

1. Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee – the grandest of all celebrations (which she didn’t have to pay for!)

If you are looking for the costliest parties of all times, it’s Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebration. And be ready, your eyes might pop out reading the cost of the four-day event; it was a mind-boggling amount of £3 billion (30,000 crores)! I don’t even know how many figures it has! A flotilla of 1000 boats was formed and it sailed through London in her honour. And fun fact? She didn’t even have to pay a penny as the UK taxpayer had to foot the bill.

No wonder she is smiling so wide!

 

2. Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, an event I am sure you wouldn’t have missed!

$70 million (460 crores). Hell, yes. That’s how expensive their big day was! The bride’s dress alone costed a staggering amount of $434,000 (3 crores)! 5,000 street parties took place across Britain. The wedding was covered by 8,500 journalists in London alone! Goodness, isn’t this the kind of wedding that almost every girl grows up dreaming about?

 

3. Wedding of Lakshmi Mittal’s daughter, the facts and figures of which have made me dizzy!

Probably one of the most expensive Indian weddings ever, it costed about 240 crores! 35 craftsmen were flown in to erect the mandap. Kylie Minogue’s numbers earned her 200,000 pounds (about 2 crores) for her half an hour act. Shahrukh Khan was paid 300,000 pounds (about 3 crores) to perform a spoof on the Mittals. So much for having a good laugh! Moreover, about 6 million pounds worth of diamonds were worn. 1 million pounds were spent on keeping the guests happy and cozy in the hotel! 

Look at that stunningly beautiful Vaux Le Vicomte estate, the wedding venue. Oh, I am so done being poor!

 

4. Wedding of the crown prince of Abu Dhabi…they had to build a stadium for it?!

A stadium was built especially for the wedding of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and princess Salama to accommodate 20,000 guests! Wow. The bride was given 20 camels that had their backs loaded with diamonds and precious jewels as a gift. And the whole affair amounted up to $45 million (300 crores). Okay, my head is reeling with the large numbers!!

 

5. Mayawati’s 55th birthday, the lucky lady who owns land on the Moon!!

A little shocked to see the former UP CM’s name? Well, be ready to be shocked further. It had a budget of 300 crores. That’s right! A 55-kg cake was cut. And…she was gifted a plot on the Moon. No big deal, right?! The days aren’t far when people will be fighting for gifting each other planets! The Solar system’s way too small for that. Too bad!

 

6. Celebration of Sultan of Brunei’s 50th birthday, don’t miss the guest list!

Well, when I say Michael Jackson performed live for the Sultan and Prince Charles attended it, it probably says everything. The Sultan spent about $27.2 million (190 crores) to celebrate his day and flaunt his never-draining wealth (just like his oil wells)! There was free flowing champagne and caviar. And everybody was gifted a gold medal! The man lives an extravagant life that one can only dream of!

 

7. Celebrations, enjoyment and status surely comes with a price, of about 220 crores. That’s the budget for Nita Ambani’s 50th birthday!

A mega affair that took place in Jodhpur which was absolutely glorious and well, super-expensive! With the budget of 220 crores, the Ambanis left no stone unturned to make the event a gala one! 32 charter planes were on duty and stars flew in to wish the beautiful Mrs. Ambani. A live performance by A.R. Rahman added a shining star to the whole event. But 220 crores?! I think twice before ordering a 220 bucks starter in a restaurant! 

 

8. Mulayam Singh Yadav’s 75th birthday, the number played a major role in deciding the cake’s length!

He flaunted by riding down the decked-up streets of Rampur in a Victorian buggy. What’s so grand about it, you might ask. Well, it was a 70 lakh buggy! And a 75-feet cake was cut at midnight along with fireworks that dazzled the night! How did they even make that big a cake, I wonder.

 

9. David Brooks’ daughter, Elizabeth Brooks’ 13th birthday, a day you’d probably trade your life for!

Elizabeth Brooks lived her dream on her 13th birthday! Her favourite pop idols, Aerosmith, Ciara, 50 Cent and Stevie Nicks were all flown in Brooks’ private jet for the occasion. Daddy Great spent $10 million (about 70 crores) to make his beloved daughter’s day and wait a minute, Aerosmith was paid 10% of it! Whoa! 

I don’t even remember what I did for my last birthday! Though, I remember a lot of sleeping…!
