Lisa Kudrow’s Speech About Braving Multiple Failures Will Make You Unafraid Of Falling

Lisa Kudrow, aka Phoebe Buffay from the hit American TV series, ‘FRIENDS’ needs no introduction. In fact, she was, is and will always be one of the favourites of them all. The craziest, cleverest and quirkiest ‘friend’, Lisa has only grown on us with time!

But apart from her acting prowess (and being very pretty hilarious), Lisa truly embodies every character trait that makes one, a woman of substance. A woman who has fought her way to the up and how!

Remember the time when she opened up about an incident where a co-star said she was ‘not f*ckable‘ sans make-up? While it must have taken a lot of gumption to stomach the sexism, believe me when I say this, she has had worse! If you think I’m exaggerating, well, you won’t after this. As a matter of fact, you’d leave inspired by the end.

A video of Lisa delivering an address to the graduating class of 2010 at Vassar’s 146th commencement is going viral on the internet and we can totally see why. Talking about her failures, she had said…

lisa

“I got fired from Fraiser. This time, it was really hard not to think that it wasn’t meant to be, my career as an actress.”

For those who are not in the know, Fraiser is an American sitcom that was critics and commentators held in high regard.

Not just that. She also opened up about the silent struggle every 20 something-year-old goes through. Just like she did.

However, she quipped, that the hardships are the ones that make you, who you are!

“It’s not supposed to be easy. You’re supposed to have moments of uncertainty about which path to take.”

Talking about moments, she also shared her feelings about the moment that got her to her glory- FRIENDS! And all those that seemed like ‘disappointments’ but were ‘guideposts.’

lisa

“It was a good thing I didn’t get Saturday Night Live. And that Romy and Michelle didn’t work out. And every other disappointment that happened. They were actually guideposts.”

So much and I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet!

Lisa took us all back in time when she recalled something, just after her firing, that changed her life for the good.

lisa

“So thank God I got fired!”

BTW, they have an adorable son too!
