Company Asks Employees To Not Use Headphones While Working, Redditors React

While working in an office we encounter all kinds of people. There are those who have all the office gossip. Then there are the workaholics who have their eyes glued to the screen all the time.

Then come those who prefer cutting themselves off from the chitter-chatter of their colleagues around, put on their headphones, and teleport to a universe of their own. They prefer blocking all the outside noise by using headphones to work better.

But, not everyone can understand this.

An HR from an unknown company thought using headphones distracted employees and therefore, deteriorated the quality of their work. Hence, a letter was sent to all employees asking them to refrain from using headphones while working.

The letter read:

“Hello everyone,
We’ve noticed that many of you are using headphones while working. Unfortunately, this means that you don’t have your full attention on the task at hand and we’ve seen a dip in the quality of work that is being completed.

Our clients have also raised issues with us regarding deadlines not being met and tasks not being finished on time. We kindly ask that everyone refrains from using headphones while working to ensure that productivity remains at its highest level. This will help us stay on track with our client’s expectations as well as meet our own deadlines.” (sic)

A Reddit user (u/chinmaysonlyfans) was annoyed upon receiving the letter. Hence, the user shared a screengrab of the letter on the r/mumbai subreddit and asked the HRs of Mumbai to weigh in.

Upon reading the letter, this is how people reacted:

‘It leads to productivity’, many said.

Others suggested the person should get a speaker and start attending meetings.

Hear it from the HRs themselves.

Everyone has their own way of working. Clearly, listening to music and using headphones helps many concentrate better. What do you think of this memo?
