No matter how sweet and simple or grand and glorious it is, the only possible reaction to watching a marriage proposal is ‘awwwwwww’! Couples too are taking up the challenge to get more and more creative with how they pop the question these days. Some want to do it on the Parliament floor, some want to do it at the same time while playing Pictionary! Ah Millennials, raising the bar higher one proposal at a time, right?
And here’s the latest entrant to this list of beautiful and creative proposals!
Twitter user @ScorpiiAlpha, Meg, shared the adorable story of how her girlfriend Lydia proposed to her using a long-standing tradition that the two indulged in during their travels!
The couple were out hiking in Minnewaska State Park in New York when it happened.
Lydia had come prepared with two paper cards with the words ‘Marry’ and ‘Me’ written on them. When she asked Meg to pose for the picture with her back to the camera, she held up the cards and clicked!
For four years Lyd & I have been taking instant photos of our adventures together, and on our weekend hike she suggested I stand looking out at the view for the photos-
At the top of the mountain she said, “let’s look back at our photos to see if they developed properly” and.. pic.twitter.com/eDabZgUwcL

Awwwwwww, it’s the sweetest thing!
In the same thread, Meg went on to describe her stunning ring and the perfect location that Lydia chose to ask her the most important question of their lives!
According to what Lydia told BBC, the couple, who has been together for almost five years now, had picked out the ring beforehand and planned on getting engaged soon.
the ring is sterling silver flowers and branches with a rainbow moonstone set in it and yesterday was the happiest day of my life!!!!! pic.twitter.com/idHyjk6Tcr

“The band is a silver branch since nature and the environment are important to us, and the gem is a rainbow moonstone, which changes colours in the light to match Meg’s eyes.”
OMG my eyes! :’)
Another sweet reason behind this thoughtful proposal idea was the fact that the couple have a beautiful montage of instant photos of their trips on their bedroom wall!
For Lydia, there was nothing more apt than this.
This is a picture of our room 🎞💕 Lyd said that one of the reasons she wanted to propose this way was so we could add the photos to our wall ☺️ pic.twitter.com/fZ76GEfRlD

“… like a story I had to complete. Story art is my profession, so this idea came naturally to me.”
But that wasn’t it! Lydia was trying to be all thorough with a speech and all but….
(She generously left out the part where I tried to give her a loving speech but I pathetically wept through the entire thing)
Meg is the most perfect person in the world and I’m so lucky to have grown up with her, moved in with her, and soon marry her 💕💍 https://t.co/LuRTevl451
