Today is eggs-tra special. Because something eggs-quisite has happened. Okay, no more egg puns. You’re probably wondering why I’m using them today. I’ll eggs-plain (last one, I promise). It’s because an inconsequential image of an egg has made a new world record. Of getting the most number of likes on Instagram!
The previous record holder is this adorable picture uploaded by Kylie Jenner when she had her baby girl, Stormi Webster (18 million likes).
Here’s the image that toppled this record with 22 million likes and counting!
You will be surprised to know that this handle has only one picture. Yet somehow, it has garnered a massive following of 2.3 million. The bio reads, “Official world record holders of the most liked picture on Instagram. Now where’s our blue tick?” The picture was uploaded on January 4, 2019, with an ambitious caption. The anonymous account calls itself #EggGang and the real owner’s identity is shrouded in mystery. According to TIME, when a reporter tried to get more information, they were told that it belongs to a British chicken named “Henrietta”. And their stated reason for breaking the world record is,
“the power of the egg is strong.”
This is how Kylie Jenner responded to the news
I wonder what the ‘Egg Gang’ has up its sleeve for the future. Can the second post live up to people’s expectations or will it be a dud? Do you guys think it will become a verified account?
