Kiran Kumar On Beating Covid-19: Getting Infected Isn’t Criminal, Hiding It Is

The coronavirus pandemic has till now taken the lives of 4,531 people and 158,333 people have been detected positive in India including several B-Town celebs. After popular Indian singer Kanika Kapoor and actor Purab Kohli, veteran actor Kiran Kumar has now confirmed he had coronavirus, reported Hindustan Times.

However, the actor, popular for playing the antagonist in movies like ‘Tezaab’ and ‘Khuda Gawah’, tested negative in his third attempt on Wednesday. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the 67-year-old actor opened about his battle with the virus.

As soon he tested positive, he isolated himself on the third floor and maintained a social distance from his family.

“I told my wife to buy disposable utensils for me to eat in. My food would be prepared and kept on the staircase. I’d pick it up myself, eat and dispose of the plates, ensuring zero contact. I also made my own bed and cleaned the room.”

Staying confined to his room, he got a lot of time to binge-watch his favourite movies and do some reading. Talking about which he said, “My reading choices are quite outlandish in that I believe in aliens and enjoy my Asimovs (Isaac Asimov, American writer of science fiction). I also binge-watched Star Trek, Star Wars and some Hindi films.” Often regarded as ‘The Bachhan of Gujarati Cinema’, his time at home made him value his relationships even more.

“I may be a known name but at home, my wife (Sushma) is the tigress. She never lets any of us mope and my sister (Nikki) who has been pampering me like a kid, cooked my favourite dishes.”

“My children (Shaurya and Srishti) have been tending to my every need, while my support staff has also stood by me like a rock, instead of running away after finding out that I have tested positive.”

He further added that his pals have made his isolation much bearable by frequently checking on him and sending him e-papers and jokes. Even though he is hale and hearty now, Kumar said that coronavirus is here to stay.

“We all have to learn to modify our lifestyles and start living with it. There’s no vaccine yet, so, the only way to contain it is isolation. Getting infected isn’t criminal; hiding it is.”

He adds that it’s important to be satisfied with the resources one has and start appreciating the little things in life. Kumar was asymptomatic Covid-19 positive and came to know about it when he went to the hospital for a minor medical procedure. He was asked to take a few tests, including the one for coronavirus. Talking about it he said:

“I have faced so many adversities that I was not shocked. I am prepared for every eventuality life throws my way. Acceptance is necessary especially when dealing with such crisis.”

The actor is an example of how one can successfully beat the virus just by staying at home and abiding by all the precautionary measures. Take care, guys.
