Drunk Killer Confesses 5 Year Old Crime To Friend, Overheard By Mumbai Police Informant & Arrested

While solving crimes, the police pursue many leads. Clues at the crime scene, forensic evidence, investigating people close to the victim and even eyewitness accounts. But have you ever heard of a cold case being reopened because of the perpetrator’s drunken rant?

In January 2014, a 43-year-old man named Ikhlakh Khan was found dead on Sion-Koliwada Link Road. The police suspected that he was killed in a hit-and-run accident. When investigations didn’t provide any leads, his case was closed in December 2016.

Almost 5 years post the crime, a new lead reopened the case. Ironically, the lead came from the killer himself, The Hindu reported.

A 33-year-old resident of Mumbai named Amol Pasoba was having drinks with a friend. In his inebriated state, he confessed to killing a man and also complained that he had not received the full payment after the job was done.

This conversation was overheard by someone who immediately informed the Mumbai Police Crime Branch. Armed with new information, the police found that the victim and his business partner had fought over money issues. The partner had employed someone to have him killed for Rs.40,000.

After joining the dots, the police arrested Amol Pasoba and questioned him. He revealed that he ran the victim over with a water tanker but received only Rs.10,000 of the promised amount.

Looks like alcohol proved to be very injurious to his health. Meanwhile, the hunt for the business partner is still on.
