What’s on your platter?
Ask this to Indians and the answers would be so different and diverse that you wouldn’t be able to note ’em all down. But there’s one dish, known by various names and preparation methods, across our land that is prepared using rice and lentils and is delish as hell.
It’s our khichdi. Some spicy variants to some plain ones, everyone in India has had the simplistic soul food on their platter.
And, guess what? We hear that come November 3 or 4, it could be declared as the national food of the country. No kidding! This is true.
At the mega event, World Food India 2017, organised by the Ministry of Food Processing the announcement will be made. It will also have India’s best chefs coming together to make 800 kg of khichdi.
I encourage everyone to head over to the @WorldFoodIndia mega event this weekend for a truly breathtaking experience. #WorldFoodIndia pic.twitter.com/loHiunz6HU

A DNA report said that the Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing and Bathinda’s MP, Harsimrat Kaur Badal had proposed khichdi’s name for national dish and it got approved.
Deemed to be the Queen of food, the food ministry feels that the dish is every Indian’s favourite. Huh?
Well, netizens have a difference of opinion and have a lot of tadka to add to the news.

But, have you tried Bengali khichdi? It’s yum AF. And, personally I know how to make awesome-sauce khichdis. But then, don’t quite like the thought or the concept of a national food.
