Keralites Maintain 1-Meter Distance While Standing In Queue To Buy Liquor

The global coronavirus pandemic has impacted our lives in more ways than one. Apart from taking basic precautions to prevent infection, we’re working from home, practicing self-isolation and socializing virtually. On March 22, between 7 am and 9 pm we will also observe ‘Janata Curfew’ to fight COVID-19.

Seeing as to how social distancing is our most effective weapon against the spread of the disease, Kerala residents are following its principles even while standing in a queue outside a liquor store, reports India Today.

The Telegraph quoted G. Sparjan Kumar, Managing Director of the Kerala State Beverages Corporation saying that on March 18, the government implemented a rule to maintain 1-meter distance when standing in queues and capped the maximum number of people queueing up to 30.

The discipline of the customers impressed desi Twitter and at the same time inspired everyone to emulate it in their own state.

According to ABC News, the World Health Organization advises a minimum gap of 3 feet while buying essential groceries, medicines, standing in a bank queue or even walking in a park. If possible, the ideal distance should be of 2-meters or 6 feet.

Let’s avoid going outside and flatten the coronavirus curve because we’re all in this together!
