Kerala Jail Sells Biryani Combo Cooked By Inmates Online & It’s Already A Massive Hit!

When we think about the food which is served in prisons, we mostly imagine a few rotis and a tasteless vegetable served in an aluminium plate. The reality, however, is pretty much the opposite.

Food made inside Kerala prisons is so good that authorities partnered with food delivery portals to have them delivered to people. The food is made by prison inmates under the supervision of jail officials.

However, the jail-food business isn’t new for Kerala prisons. The initiative which is called ‘Freedom Food Factory’ has been selling food through counters ever since 2011. Items like Biryani, chapatis, bakery items, non-veg curries made by the inmates are hugely in demand because of its low cost and excellent quality.

Presently, the jail sells around 25,000 chapatis and over 500 biryanis a day which is prepared by 100 inmates.
