The floods in Kerala have become one of the worst deluges the state has seen in a century. Since June, Kerala has received 37.5% excessive rainfall, which has left several people dead and many displaced. As the rescue operations continue, the worsened situation has prompted relief efforts from across the nation.

Actor Siddharth has been spreading awareness on Twitter about the various ways in which Kerala flood victims might be helped. And now, inspired from the trend of internet challenges going viral, he has initiated a noble way of ensuring help.
Move over #KikiChallenge, because it is now time to do your bit for Kerala with the #KeralaDonationChallenge. Siddharth tweeted his appeal to the masses to take up the challenge and pledge support in any way for the cause.
I dare you. I beg of you!
What do I have to do to make you read and share this?
I did the #KeralaDonationChallenge
It was awesome!
Will you? Please?#KeralaFloods#SaveKerala@CMOKerala pic.twitter.com/9RmMjSKVBC

In his tweet, Siddharth has attached two pictures: the first one is a written appeal from his end, addressing the devastating situation in Kerala. He urges people to contribute in any way they can to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund and spread the word about the challenge.
Not just a humble appeal, but the actor goes on to attach a picture of his bank’s official acknowledgement of his own donation of Rs 10 Lakh to the Fund as proof.
It was indeed a noble gesture, and rather inspired, considering how internet challenges are a viral rage these days with youngsters and adults alike.
And mark these words, the Internet did not fail! Twitter rose to the occasion, and took up the #KeralaDonationChallenge, donating whatever they could for the flood relief.
Forget #KikiChallenge
Lets do #KeralaDonationChallenge
Believe me,its awesome

They shared screenshots of what people can expect to receive when they donate for the challenge—100% tax exemption certificate for their donation.

Some others also shared information about several digital banking and wallet apps that were offering the option to donate towards Kerala flood relief.

The most heartwarming thing, perhaps, was how people were inspired from Siddharth’s tweet and sharing proofs of their own donations!
From Rs 200 to Rs 2 Lakh, the amounts varied with each donation. And if anyone tried to justify the amount that they could spare, other users came to their defense, assuring them that no amount was big or small here.
It was the thought that mattered.

The Internet may have gone way overboard in their obsession with the #KikiChallenge. But it feels great to see them rise up to something like the #KeralaDonationChallenge with the same fervour. After all, it isn’t rocket science to figure out which one is more badass, right?
It might be tough to save our youth from viral internet challenge trends. But here’s hoping this viral internet challenge trend of the youth can help save lives in Kerala.
