So, during this time of crisis, more than 100 doctors and nurses from Kerala will join the medical staff in Mumbai in order to win the battle against coronavirus, reports India Today. A team of 16 doctors will reach the financial capital of the country soon as per Dr. Santhosh Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr. Kumar, who has already reached Mumbai along with two other doctors, said that nearly 50 doctors and 100 nurses from Kerala will join them in the next few days. “We will be working in the Seven Hills Hospital. It is safe for medical practitioners here and they should volunteer in this effort to fight Covid-19.”

“All doctors who are coming to help the medical staff in Mumbai are working in the private sector back home (Kerala) and have volunteered to assist their fraternity members here,” he was quoted saying.

Although Dr. Kumar works with a government hospital in Kerala, he has volunteered along with private doctors from his state to assist medical professionals in Mumbai, reports the Indian Express. “What is lacking is the human resources. Even doctors from Maharashtra should join in,” he added.

Dr. Kumar said that they will use different strategies to deal with the virus in Mumbai as it has a greater population compared to Kerala. Sometime back, a team of 105 medics from Kerala had gone on a medical mission to the UAE to treat COVID-19 patients as well. In fact Kerala’s efforts to flatten the curve have been applauded globally. Well, hats off to the doctors and nurses of the state for their selfless service.
