After Google, Amazon Faces Backlash From Kannadigas As It Sells Karnataka Flag Bikini

Recently, Google faced backlash from the people of Karnataka after it showed Kannada as the “ugliest language in India” in one of its search results. Kannada & Culture Minister Aravind Limbavali arranged for a notice to be issued to Google and called it an “insult” to the “pride of Kannadigas”.

And now, just a few days later, Aravind Limbavali took to Twitter to reveal that Amazon has been selling ‘Karnataka Flag bikini’. According to The Indian Express, the bikini was been selling on Amazon Canada’s website. It is red and yellow in colour, resembling the Karnataka flag and even has the state emblem.

Besides Canada, the bikini has been on sale in the United Kingdom, Japan, and Mexico.

“Multinational companies should stop such repeated insult of Kannada,” the Minister tweeted.

He went on to say that legal action would be taken against Amazon Canada. Have a look at his tweets here:

According to Hindustan Times, Karnataka has its own flag. It is red, white and yellow in colour and the emblem consists of a Gandaberunda – a two-headed mythological bird.

Meanwhile, people online slammed the company for hurting the sentiments of Kannadigas. They demanded the product to be removed immediately from the website.
