Kareena Kapoor Pays Tribute To British Royal Family, Indians Call It ‘Stockholm Syndrome’

There were three kinds of people on social media after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
1. UK and other foreign nationals who mourned the loss of the Queen.
2. People from colonized nations who shared memes and jokes on the Queen’s passing.
3. Celebrities and influencers in India who paid tributes to the Queen.

To mourn the death of a British Royal Family member, especially that of the Queen, seemed a bit off-putting to many Indians considering our grave colonization history by the British Raj. It was 200 years of loot, torture, mass murder and mayhem in the country where Indians were robbed off their culture and resources to fit into the British’s idea of “normal” and “civilized”.

So when our beloved celebrities were mourning the death of the Queen and paying her tributes, many Indians described it as a “colonial hangover” or even worse, “Stockholm Syndrome” (feelings of affection from a victim towards their captor in a hostage-like situation).

One such celebrity is Kareena Kapoor Khan who recently shared a picture of King Charles and Prince William saluting with a heart emoji on Instagram Stories. Have a look:

A screenshot of her story was shared on Reddit under the subreddit r/BollyBlindsNGossip by a user who asked, “Is she for real?”

Several people in the group slammed her and claimed that she lives in a bubble far away from reality. Some also said that even education cannot stop “rich people” from being ignorant of our history.

All I have to say is this:

What do you think about Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Instagram tribute?
