It seems like no matter what Karan Johar does these days, the internet cries out “Nepotism ki jai!” To be frank, the crusader for justice in me did flare up a bit initially when this whole nepotism debate caught fire. But then, I miraculously remembered that who he casts in his movies is none of my damn business. In fact, if it really does annoy me so much, it makes more sense to not spend money on tickets for the movie than to become another angry voice on the Internet.
I mean, think about it. Bollywood is a business like any other. What prevails in the industry, depends on what the consumer interests are like. So basically, if you’re seeing too many star kids on screen, it’s because people like you and I have made such movies a box office hit.
And since we do so, creators like Karan cater to the needs of the audience and cash in on the consumer interests.
It’s business 101.
Having said that, people aren’t going to stop trolling him for his casting choices any time soon and that’s exactly what happened when he announced the star-packed cast of his new film ‘Takht‘.
I am so excited and honoured to announce the lead cast of #TAKHT@RanveerOfficial #KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09 @psbhumi #JanhviKapoor @AnilKapoor #HirooYashJohar @apoorvamehta18@sumit_roy_ @hussainhaidry pic.twitter.com/ifgb8RC7uV

Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil-Frickin-Kapoor! This has got to be the casting coup of the century.
Aside from the plethora of acting talent on the roster with this cast, it’s unmissable that pretty much all of the signed stars fall into the nepotism category in one way or the other. And you know how Twitter can be. While some were busy typing out abuses to Karan in all caps, the funnier side wondered why Taimur had been left out from the cast.
Now, since, Karan had previously vowed not to explain himself to anyone anymore, we weren’t really expecting him to react to tweets like this:
soooo Karan @karanjohar's new film #Takht is not under Dharma Productions rather Nepotismismyname Productions.

Or this one:
Another example of #Nepotism by @karanjohar .Favoring friends, kids of friends, family and relatives. I hate watching Bollywood films now. The industry is run like a dynasty now. https://t.co/jKqpLLhzv9

However, Karan seems to have been in a particularly sassy kind of mood on Saturday after someone gave this spin to Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna on the day of its 12th anniversary:
Thanks for promoting Extra Marital affairs

Karan sort of went on a low-key shading spree, and proved he is a master of trolling himself.
He wrote back to all three users in his own witty unapologetic style.
He’s got a point there, you know.
Hello uninformed person! You cannot promote something that is already a big hit! https://t.co/ptC84yzdDj

The sarcasm is heavy with this one.
Ma’m…your clever coinage is original and has a dash of humour but nothing can match your beautiful DP image! Hand on chin and looking at an undisclosed location…. https://t.co/I5rd66894A

He can serve quite an impressive burn, can’t he?
You must stop immediately or the world will come to a drastic end! https://t.co/wn62oCcrhA

Okay, peeps. Take the hint. Don’t mess with Karan. The man is 5 feet 9 inches of pure sass.
