“After I Left Home, I Was A Film Star & Drug Addict Within 2 Years,” Says Kangana Ranaut

Fierce, talented and candid, these are the three words that describe Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut the best. Despite being an ‘outsider’ the ‘Panga’ star has marked her place in the B-town with blockbuster films like ‘Gangster’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Queen’, ‘Krishh 3’ among others.

Apart from her versatile choice of movies, Kangana is known for her outspoken nature as she never minces her words be it about roasting ace Bollywood director Karan Johar on his own show, her personal and legal spat with the Roshans or press conferences.

In fact, Kangana time and again has been quite vocal about her tough yet inspiring journey from her home town in Himachal to Bollywood. Giving a more detailed account of the same in a recent Instagram video, Kangana said, “Friends, I was 15 or 16 when I ran away from my house, and I used to feel like I could grab the stars with my hands. After I left my house, I was a film star and a drug addict within 1.5 – 2 years of it.”

The 33-year-old star also extended her best wishes to fans on the fifth day of Navratri and urged fans who are restless due to the coronavirus lockdown to have faith.

“My life was so messed up, I was with certain types of people from whom only death could have saved me. All of this happened in my life only at the time when I was only a teenager,” the actress said.

Explaining how she then took to spirituality to help her bounce back to normalcy Kangana shared, “At the moment a very good friend came into my life who introduced me to Yoga and gave me a book Rajayoga which have very good processes. After that I took Swami Vivekanand as my guru and under his guidance, I groomed myself a lot.”

“I would have been lost in the crowd if those challenging times didn’t come in my life. Without the spiritual guidance, I wouldn’t have been able to develop my will-power, I wouldn’t have been able to sharpen my intellect or groom my talent or develop my emotional health,” she added.

Kangana also threw light on the concept of Brahmacharya and said, “Brahmacharya is not celibacy or just about celibacy, Brahmacharya has many good processes.”

“So, all I want to say is that make use of this time. Bad times are the only good times,” she concluded.

Kangana’s courage to open up about her drug addiction and dark past is surely commendable. Thank you for your wise words, more power to you ma’am, keep inspiring!
