6 WOMEN Assaulted A 54 YO Lady And Tore Her Clothes Over A Seat On In A Mumbai Local

For anybody who’s traveling through local trains knows the kind of everyday innocent ruckus one experiences. The hullabaloo one goes though on a daily basis is generally laughed off and even forgotten after a minute or two. But sometimes this naive chaos may take a dangerous turn and things may lead to a harmful fight.

In a disturbing turn of events, an elderly lady named Charumati Velhad was physically assaulted by a gang of 6 ladies while traveling in a local train from Kalyan to CST. The 54-year-old victim was left with nail marks all over her hands and her clothes were torn.

Chirumurti is a bank employee and has her office in CST. The lady everyday boards a return train from Kalyan as it is difficult for her to get on the train from Dombivali (her residence) and would then take the same train to CST.

This idea, however, irked some of her fellow passengers and it resulted in a violent brawl. Here is what an injured Chirumurti told to Times of India,

“When the train reached Kalyan, some women commuters, in the age group of 25-30 years, objected to my boarding the Kalyan-bound train at Dombivli and asked me to get off. They snatched my bag and asked me to stand, but when I refused to budge, they assaulted me and tore my clothes.”

The ferocious gang stopped harassing Chirumurti only after she threatened to file a complaint against them. And rightfully so, after reaching CST, the lady did approach the railway police. Here is how the police took charge of the incident then.

“As the victim did not suffer serious injuries, we registered an NC against the accused and have forwarded the case to Kalyan GRP for further probe.”

It’s simply heart bleeding to know how a petty issue like a ‘seat claim’ can turn into a huge and violent brawl like this. Where is humanity heading to?
