Karan Johar’s much-awaited magnum opus, Kalank finally reached the cinema halls on Wednesday. The film boasts an ensemble cast of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sonakshi Sinha. KJo’s very first try at making a period saga also brings back together Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt on the big screen after years.
The trailer of the film, which oozed royalty in every frame was released a month ago. Needless to say, it had set the excitement of the fans soaring and they were eagerly waiting for the film to hit the theaters.
As far as the early reviews of Kalank are concerned, it has received a thumbs up from the entire film fraternity. While on the other hand, the film has received a mixed response from the critics and fans. Some can’t stop heaping praises on Varun Dhawan for his thunderous performance as Zafar, while others can’t stop comparing KJo’s film to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic period sagas.

Over all- Kalank failed me, as a viewer. After a point I really didn't care about what happened to Zafar and Roop as it isn't as enticing or engaging, given the time over which #Kalank stretches over.

Nothing new in the movie, same 80s type predictable storyline. Good performance by #AdityaRoyKapur, #SanjayDutt and #MadhuriDixit. Direction and screenplay is very poor. Editing work is very bad. It could have been cut down 20 minutes more.⭐⭐
