Juhi Chawla Yearns For Meatier Roles Says, “Some Aren’t Worth Considering At All”

Juhi Chawla has had quite an extensive career and entertained movie buffs with her performances. Her work still holds a special place in the heart of her fans. But she has recently confessed to struggling to find convincing and ‘meatier’ roles so she can return to what she loved doing the most.

Although she was last seen in ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ alongside Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Rajkummar Rao, her hunt for a ‘good film’ seems to continue.

In her recent interview with HT, the Ishq actress candidly spoke about her quest for satisfying roles.

“Films still come to me though few and far between, but not necessarily satisfying. There’s a sifting process. There are some which aren’t worth considering at all. Not to put anyone down, but some who come really don’t have a proper project or a complete story. I’ve worked in smaller films and in big projects, too. I was lucky to get ELKDTAL… But Chalk N Duster was a new producer, a relatively seasoned director but not a known name and we managed to make a good film.”

She went on to say that she feels awkward picking up the phone and asking for work.

“I loved the script so much, I went with them to Shabanaji saying ‘Can we do this together’. I’ve done that too. But I’m not very good at…well, I feel very awkward picking up the phone and saying I want to work. Though I wouldn’t say I’m eager on quantity, but I’d love some amazing quality work to come and then have it win.”

Recently, Juhi has been devoting a lot of time to spreading awareness about environmental issues and promoting organic farming.

Juhi’s return to the silver screen is eagerly awaited by one and all. Movies like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Mr and Mrs Khiladi, Ishq, Andaz Apna Apna, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak have been major milestones of the ’90s.

We hope she gets the comeback she covets with movies worthy of her calibre.
