Joseph Schooling.
Heard it anywhere? Well, this is the name we might be hearing for a long time to come.
This 21 Year Old Singaporean, beat Micheal Phelps in the 100m butterfly by clocking 50.39 in a three way-dead heat, denying him his 5th gold in Rio Olympics. This was incidentally also Phelps last race.
However, he gives the credit of his win to the mountain of a man he beat, Michael Phelps who had to settle for a second place, getting a silver medal.
“As a kid I wanted to be like him. “
He had met him as a teenager in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
“It’s crazy to think of what happens in eight years. A lot of this is because of Michael. He’s the reason I wanted to be a better swimmer.”
How dreams come true!
