The year of 2019 has turned out to be a massively unlucky one for Indian international airline, Jet Airways. In a piece of heartbreaking news, the Mumbai based brand which was already going through severe financial issues has finally succumbed to its problems.
On 17th April, the company took to its official Twitter account to announce that they will suspend all the domestic and international flights immediately.
With deep sadness and a heavy heart we would like to share that, effective immediately, we will be suspending all our domestic and international flight operations.

The CEO of Jet Airways also came forward to explain the painful situation. He made it clear that due to the lack of investors the brand has no other option but to stop its services instantly. The company is currently sitting on a debt of over Rs 8000 crore and all attempts to sell the airlines have failed.
“Late last night we were informed by SBI, on behalf of the consortium of Indian lenders, that they are unable to consider our request for interim funding. Since no emergency funding from the lenders or any other source of funding was forthcoming, it would therefore not have been possible for us to pay for fuel or other critical services to keep the operations going.”
“A decision like this is never easy to make, but without the interim funding, which we have been repeatedly requesting for, we are simply unable to conduct flight operations in a manner that delivers to the very reasonable expectations of our guests, employees, partners and service providers.”
Around 16,500 employees including pilots, engineers and ground staff have been left unemployed in a matter of seconds and you go to feel sorry for them.
However, the announcement has left loyal Jet passengers extremely emotional. People have taken to the micro-blogging site to share their happy memories with the airline. Some even tried to motivate the brand and hoped for them to make a comeback.
Not flying @jetairways this IPL is a real pity. A world class airline that made domestic flying a real pleasure….Missing you guys…hope you bounce back soon 👍#JetAirways

You guys are a class apart. In a sector where people only complain when things go wrong, I always appreciated the extra service. Good luck.

My last flight home was on #JetAirways. The airline was among the good full-service carriers on the Delhi-Bagdogra route. 💔 https://t.co/C3xVuH60dw
