Brave Jawan Fights Off 4 Maoists Bare-Handed, Despite Being Stabbed In The Chest

We’ve all seen those climax action scenes in movies, where our Bollywood hero, despite being severely injured, would manage to defeat the bad guys somehow. Of course, it was all in the movies and we all knew that this would probably not be possible in real life. Or wait, is it? Thanks to a C-60 commando, we now know this heroic feat has been made possible!

In an awe-inspiring display of bravery, a 33-year-old C-60 jawan Gomji Mattami managed to bare-handedly defeat four Maoists in Gadchiroli. And here’s the part that will absolutely floor you—he did this with a stab wound in his chest!

C-60 commando police naik Mattami is a native of Madska village, located around 8 km from Jambia Gatta in Etapalli Taluka, Gadchiroli, where the skirmish happened.

He was returning to Jambia Gatta after a police bandobast at the weekly market was cancelled when he bumped into a classmate and stopped to talk to him. The Maoists were believed to have been from an action team which often carries out such lightening attacks.

The four plain-clothes Maoists had surrounded Mattami and were in a bid to steal the jawan’s ammunition.

They grabbed Mattami from behind and pinned him to the ground. Recalling the incident to TOI, Mattami described,

“One of them pulled out a pistol pointing at me and pulled the trigger. It failed to fire. It was all happening in a flash. At this point, I was trying to free myself while keeping a hold on my weapon and magazines. I knew their intention was to gun me down before fleeing with my weapon. I kicked the man with the gun which fell off his hand.”

“Suddenly one of them stabbed me in the chest with a dagger. The pain loosened my grip over my weapon (AK 47) which he managed to snatch and flee. I got up and began to run after them aiming not to allow them to run away with my weapon.”

The Maoists must’ve thought they had tasted success. But little did they know, the braveheart Mattami was going to be the death of their mission!

The brave jawan not only managed to snatch back his AK-47 rifle and three magazines but also forced the Maoists to leave behind their firearm and 10 live cartridges.

Currently admitted in The Orange City Hospital and Research Institute (OCHRI), Mattami’s condition is stable now.

The police department has lauded Mattami’s heroics, which is likely to make the jawan a contender for a gallantry award next year. But for now, the internet’s already singing his praises!
