Kangana Ranaut appeared in court for the defamation case filed against her by lyricist Javed Akhtar. However, her lawyer countered by filing a case against Akhtar for alleged extortion and criminal intimidation.
TOI reports that Kangana alleged that during her spat with Hrithik Roshan, Akhtar called her sister and her to his house at Juhu. She was subsequently threatened and forced to write an apology.
Ranaut’s plea against Akhtar said, “The said accused (Akhtar) even had the audacity to then force me to tender a written apology to my said co-star (Roshan), thus, forcefully seeking to create a document (valuable security) in favour of my co-star.”
Kangana’s plea revealed she was threatened with dire consequences for indulging in a public fight with her “most powerful co-star and his family” she will make herself miserable, as she’d go to jail and later take her life. She also alleged Akhtar attacked her moral character via certain statements.
“The accused through his acts of crimes has thus wilfully caused me immense mental torture and trauma which still continues to have a disturbing effect on my mind,” her plea said.

Ranaut’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee also revealed that Kangana moved a transfer plea before the chief metropolitan magistrate. She desires to transfer the defamation case from the in-charge court as she has “lost faith” in it because she feels the court is “biased against her.”
However, Akhtar’s lawyer maintained that a transfer petition was already disposed of and suggested that Kangana was trying to evade legal proceedings.
