Jason Momoa Brings The Tidal Hype Wave In The New Action-Packed ‘Aquaman’ Trailer

After starting the DC Extended Universe with ‘Man of Steel’, the franchise has been on a pretty dismal run. Apart from the phenomenal success of ‘Wonder Woman’, most of their movies have failed to please critics. However, it doesn’t look like ratings and box-office numbers are enough to bring DC down because they’re back with ‘Aquaman’.

Jason Momoa had already won hearts with his turn as Khal Drogo in ‘Game of Thrones’. And since people were raring to see him in on the big screen, his casting as Arthur Curry/Aquaman was a sure-shot hit. Although ‘Justice League’ didn’t do his character much justice, Momoa wowed fans as the superhero. So, it was only a matter of time before he got his own solo movie.

Watch the trailer here:

By the looks of it, ‘Aquaman’ will be an origin story that’ll let us know who his parents were and how he is both of land and of sea. The trailer is certainly a visual feast with the highlight being Atlantis. The cast looks brilliant with Amber Heard playing Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a comic-book accurate Black Manta and Nicole Kidman playing Queen Atlanna. However, the show-stopper is undoubtedly Aquaman’s half-brother Orm, played by Patrick Wilson, fighting for the throne in a underwater gladiator battle with Curry.

Going by the DCEU’s current situation, the only way it can go is up. The trailer looks brilliant and the name of James Wan (director of ‘The Conjuring’, ‘Furious Seven’ and ‘Insidious’) also generates a lot of hope. And with a December release, let’s see if Arthur Curry can give fans a fantastic DC Christmas or drown us into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
